Some of my favorite memories as a kid are my birthday parties. I always picked a theme too. One year I did a hippy party, with flowers, peace signs, bell bottoms, and tie dye. I even had inflatable furniture. It was hilarious. Another year was Hawaiian theme. All my guests had grass skirts and flower leis. My next door neighbor and best friend, Emily, always had parties too. Every year we looked forward to them. One year we all went to the local pool for swimming, and a couple times we went to the mall to buy make up and jewelry at Claire's, and skate at the ice rink. It sounds lame now, but as a kid, it was absolutely fantastic.
As I got into high school, the themes stopped obviously, but I still had parties. For my 18th birthday my Dad borrowed a 16 passenger van from a friend and I filled it with friends for a trip to the beach. My parents have never let me down when it comes to birthdays.
Now that we're older, we don't have the big parties with friends anymore.. which is kind of sad really! I mean, why the heck not? We don't need to have decorations and games, but we should still have friends over for cake, don't you think? Maybe not, maybe I'm just weird like that. What about you guys? Do you celebrate your birthdays still?
By the way, yes that's me holding the coconut. No I don't know what's wrong with me. That has got to be the most awkward pose I have ever seen. Haha.
